Toddlers thrive on routine. Creating a consistent pool routine helps them feel secure, know what to expect, and get the most from swim time.

Before the Pool

Same Time, Same Day

Try to schedule swim lessons at the same time each week. This helps toddlers anticipate and prepare mentally.

Light Snack

Offer a light snack 30-45 minutes before swimming. Hungry toddlers are cranky toddlers!

Talk About It

Build excitement: "Today is swim day! We'll see your instructor and play in the water!"

Arrival Routine

  • Arrive 10 minutes early to avoid rushing
  • Visit the bathroom
  • Change into swimwear in the same area each time
  • Quick warm-up or observation of the pool

After the Pool
